Roussanne

Their reddish-gold berries once gave Roussanne its name, and it is precisely this warm, autumnal shimmer that this noble Rhône grape variety brings to the glass. It demands a great deal of attention in the vineyard, but rewards us with an unmistakable texture. Roussanne combines the scent of dried apricots, linden blossom and fine beeswax with a lively acid structure that guarantees its wines a long life. While in the northern Rhône it often blends with Marsanne and Viognier, as in the complex tapestry of Maison Stephan, further south it forms the backbone of great cuvées. In the world-famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it reveals its full nobility: at Clos des Papes, it combines with Clairette and Grenache Blanc to create a deep, creamy minerality, while Marcoux uses it alongside Bourboulenc for a wonderfully finely structured, sensual wine experience.
