Wine Description for Côtes Du Rhône „No Wine’s Land“ blanc AOP 2023 by Du Coulet

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, full golden yellow with a fascinating copper hue, indicating the ripeness of the grapes and work with the skins. An optically dense, concentrated white wine.
Nose
Enchanting southern French aromatic profile that nonetheless preserves elegance and finesse. The nose unfolds with acacia blossoms and linden flowers, accompanied by corresponding floral honey. Added to this are bergamot, quince, yellow plum and a hint of verbena – an aromatic kaleidoscope that combines Mediterranean warmth with cool precision.
Palate
On the palate, a surprising spiciness emerges, making the wine more complex than the nose suggests. Alongside fruit and honey notes plus a touch of beeswax, fennel, anise, liquorice and chamomile now dominate. The wine possesses considerable weight and body at a moderate 12% alcohol, yet is perfectly balanced by a present acidity structure and perceptible minerality.
Finish
Beautiful, lingering length with spicy notes and a fresh, mineral edge that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
From a special terroir in the Cornas municipality: the Plateau de Arlettes at 250 metres elevation offers chalky-clayey soils on river pebbles – ideal conditions for white wines with tension and minerality in this southern location.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Classic Rhône cuvée of 50% Marsanne and 50% Roussanne each. This combination unites the opulent fruit and weight of Marsanne with the aromatic finesse and acidity structure of Roussanne – a dream team of the northern Rhône.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with grilled monkfish, bouillabaisse, goat’s cheese of medium maturity, fennel risotto, veal sweetbreads with morels or Provençal vegetable gratin. The spiciness harmonises beautifully with oriental spices.
Special Features
The name „No Wine’s Land“ is a charming allusion to the border location between different appellations. An authentic, characterful Rhône white wine with outstanding value for pleasure, demonstrating what the region has to offer beyond the big names.
