Silvaner
Silvaner, one of Germany's most traditional grape varieties, is currently experiencing a remarkable rediscovery by a new generation of quality-orientated winegrowers. This historic variety, whose origins date back to at least the 17th century, shows fascinating potential, especially in the hands of ambitious producers. It is also one of the defining grape varieties of Franconia, where it finds perhaps its most convincing form of expression on the characteristic shell limestone soils.
