Wine Description for Sulzfelder Blauer Silvaner Trocken 2024 from Luckert – Zehnthof

Colour & Appearance
Medium golden yellow in the glass – a colour that already hints at the maturity and substance of this unusual Silvaner.
Nose
Wild and spicy, this Blue Silvaner presents itself with character. Apple skins and hay flowers meet blue berries, blood orange peel and grapefruit. Earthy notes of dry wood, nuts, light tobacco, damp stone and a hint of lanolin join the composition – an aromatic profile that radiates complexity and authenticity.
Palate
On the palate, the primordial character becomes even more evident. Dense and firmly structured, yet juicy and equipped with mouth-watering salinity. This Silvaner defines itself less through upfront fruit, but rather through texture and structure. A timeless beautiful wine with impressive intensity, length and inner tension.
Finish
Long, spicy and mineral – the wine resonates with salty freshness and stony precision.
Terroir & Origin
Hailing from Sulzfeld in Franconia, this wine embodies the honest, unvarnished terroir of the region. The Luckerts manage historic vineyards where all four Silvaner varieties grow – a rarity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The Blue Silvaner is a historic mutation alongside Green, Red and Yellow Silvaner. Following a slightly extended skin contact period, spontaneous fermentation and malolactic fermentation took place in large wooden casks – classic Franconian craftsmanship that gives the wine time and space to develop.
Food Pairing Recommendations
An ideal companion to smoked trout, veal brisket, asparagus with brown butter or aged mountain cheese. Also an excellent choice with mushroom dishes and wild herb salads.
Special Features
The Blue Silvaner is an ampelographic rarity, cultivated by only a few winemakers today. The Luckerts at Zehnthof are among the custodians of this historic grape variety – a piece of living wine cultural history in the glass.
