Hárslevelü

Also known as: Lindenblättriger (Germany), Feuille de Tilleul (France)

Hárslevelü – „linden leaf“ – is named after the shape of its leaves. In Tokaj, alongside Furmint, it forms the second pillar of the great sweet wines, but brings more floral aromatics and less acid tension. What is often described as a softer contrast is in truth a different kind of precision: more aromatic, more direct, less designed for ageing.

At Királyudvar, the variety shows how it gains depth in Tokaj’s mineral sites without losing its openness. The fact that Moric and Bencze Birtók also work with it speaks to its versatility beyond the sweet wine tradition.
