Wine information
The Tokaji Esszencia 2002 is indeed the essence of Tokaj sweet wine. It is a cuvée of 74 % Furmint and 26 % Hárslevelű from the Danczka and Lapis vineyards. Harvested in November 2002, it was aged for 66 months in demi-johns. The sweetness is beyond 548 grams per litre, the acidity is 13.4 grams and the alcohol is 3%.

Nose
The Esszencia of Királyudvar is a drink that seems to be out of this world. A fragrance unfolds that you almost think you can see. It seems deep and concentrated, yet elegant despite the concentration. The wine is reminiscent of quinces and cider pears in both candied and preserved form. One senses notes of blond tobacco, leather polish and wax, malt, candy and smoke, liquorice and a mixture of ripe stone fruit in honey before the mushroom and sultana notes of an absolutely clean botrytis mingle in. This is absolutely fascinating.
Palate
On the palate, it becomes viscous. Creamy, this nectar glides over the palate. The inconceivable amount of sweetness is impressively well absorbed by the acidity. At the same time, it is clear that you can taste this Esszencia only in small sips, almost meditatively. Its density is simply enormous. It is nice that the acids and bitterness of oranges and grapefruits and also a little Earl Grey are added to this fan of the most diverse aromas, which one has already perceived in the nose. This unique substance is hardly a wine in the usual sense of the word. It is wine, manna, honey, ambrosia ... in other words, downright divine and almost everlasting.
