Tasting Notes for Côtes du Rhône Blanc AOC 2024 from Roche-Audran

Colour & Appearance
A bright, sparkling golden yellow, woven with delicate silvery highlights.
Nose
On the nose, Mediterranean charm combines with remarkable freshness. Dense aromas of peach, apricot and fragrant orange blossom meet nuances of almonds and nut shells. With a bit of air, ethereal herbs such as rosemary, thyme and a fine trace of fennel join in.
Palate
The palate reveals a creamy texture supported by an enlivening acid structure. Despite the powerful 14.5% abv, the wine comes across as fresh and structured. Stimulating notes of liquorice, aniseed and savoury pepper spice provide complexity and tension.
Finish
The finish captivates with delicate tannin accents and a fine spice that encourage drinkability and linger impressively long.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from vineyards on the northern slope of the hills of Rasteau and Cairanne at an altitude of 180 to 250 metres. The north-east and north-west exposure preserves the freshness. The soil is complex, characterized by clay and limestone, interspersed with pebbly deposits of marine and alluvial origin.
Grape Varieties & Vinification
A classic southern blend of Grenache blanc, Viognier, Clairette, Bourboulenc and a touch of Carignan. Ageing took place in stainless steel tanks, allowing the purity of the varietals and the fruity core to stand out with great focus.
Food Pairings
Excellent with rich Mediterranean cuisine: it pairs brilliantly with pan-fried sea fish with herb butter, poultry in cream sauce or a creamy fennel risotto.
Key Features
Vincent Rochette focuses on active biodiversity around his parcels. The biodynamically cultivated ecosystem imparts a profound spiciness and a wonderful balance of power and Mediterranean freshness to this white wine.
