Viura
Also known as: Macabeo (Catalonia, Cava region), Macabeu
Viura is the same grape variety that goes by the name Macabeo in Catalonia, where it forms the foundation of Cava – a chameleon between two worlds. In Rioja, it brings freshness and acidity to white blends, but was long overlooked in favour of barrel ageing and oxidation. Only the new generation is showing what Viura can do when bottled young: clear fruit, citrus notes, mineral precision.
At Tentenublo, Viura is taken seriously as a character in its own right – fresh, direct, without unnecessary oak. Artuke also works with the variety on equal terms, not as filler, but as a carrier of terroir and texture.
