Colour & Appearance

Luminous, slightly transparent purple with youthful brilliance in the glass – a visual hint of the altitude and precise winemaking.

Nose

Restrained and elegant, this Tempranillo presents a seductive melange of wild strawberry compote, redcurrants and raspberries, interwoven with black cherries. The French Barrique reveals itself subtly and integrated: warm cinnamon notes, a whisper of nutmeg, sweet tobacco and fine leather dance around the ripe fruit, whilst dried herbs lend complexity.

Palate

On the palate, a sensuous texture unfolds with more prominent, yet always elegant oak influence. The fine-grained tannin coats the mouth with a subtle astringency – a sign of good ageing potential. The vibrant acidity testifies to optimal harvest timing at 580 metres altitude and lends the wine a cool, almost alpine character. Dark berry fruit meets mineral depth, carried by the elegant oak structure. A complete, inviting Rioja with finesse and drinkability.

Finish

Medium to long, with persistent fruit and fine spice. The cool minerality of the altitude lingers and leaves a refreshing, precise impression.

Terroir & Origin

The single vineyard site Sobremoro in Viñaspre, Rioja Alavesa, sits at 580 metres altitude. The stony, iron-rich clay soil with limestone shapes the mineral character. The 45-year-old goblet bush vines yield concentrated, characterful grapes with natural acidity freshness.

Grape Variety & Winemaking

Pure Tempranillo from hand-harvesting. Following sorting and destemming, spontaneous fermentation took place at a maximum of 25 °C over 20 days. The 18-month maturation in second-fill French Barrique imparts structure without dominating – an example of restrained, modern Rioja style.

Food Pairing Recommendations

Excellent with overnight-roasted pork shoulder with cumin and smoked paprika, twelve-hour lamb with dates and cinnamon or vegetarian peppers filled with rice and Moroccan spices. The wine’s spice and structure harmonise perfectly with Oriental-inspired braised dishes.
