Wine Description for Weisser Burgunder „Im Sonnenschein“ GG 2024 by Ökonomierat Rebholz

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow with brilliant clarity – a Pinot Blanc that visually understates itself and prefers to reveal its quality on the palate.
Nose
Here we see the characteristic restraint of the 2024 vintage at Rebholz: the bouquet initially seems almost shy, yet of remarkable finesse. Ripe lemons with a hint of bergamot lead the way, accompanied by verbena and subtle notes of stone and kernel fruits. Particularly charming are the mineral notes of oyster shell and graphite – a chalky elegance that promises tension.
Palate
What seemed restrained on the nose unfolds on the palate with convincing presence. This Pinot Blanc is juicy, lively and agile, without losing its fine line. The white-fleshed fruit combines with citrus fruits, whilst a refined acidity (5.5 g/l) provides freshness. The texture is creamy, almost caressing, yet the stony minerality of the shell limestone gives the wine backbone and depth. With only 0.5 g/l residual sugar, this is an uncompromising dry, precise Pinot Blanc.
Finish
Long, mineral and with lingering freshness – the wine bids farewell with fine citrus spice and saline minerality.
Terroir & Origin
The vineyard site Im Sonnenschein in the Siebeldingen sunny side is a special place: south-west facing in the Queich valley, unlike most Palatinate sites which face east. At 160 to 250 metres elevation, 40-year-old vines are rooted in pure shell limestone from the Triassic – a terroir that gives this Pinot Blanc its characteristic minerality.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Pinot Blanc, slowly pressed on a basket press, spontaneously fermented in stainless steel – without any oak. This purist vinification allows terroir and fruit to speak unadulterated and impressively demonstrates how great Pinot Blanc can be when it prioritises finesse over opulence.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Oysters, scallops, steamed turbot with lemon butter, calf’s sweetbread, asparagus with Hollandaise sauce or a creamy goat’s cheese risotto.
Special Features
A Großes Gewächs that places elegance above power – a Pinot Blanc of international calibre from one of the Palatinate’s most renowned estates.
