Wine Description for Muskateller Dry 2025 from Ökonomierat Rebholz

Character
A wine that impresses with aromatic precision and dry expression. The Muskateller from Rebholz is not a wine for loud statements – it is a wine for attentive drinkers. Fragrance intensity meets mineral austerity, a combination that is rarely pursued with such consistency in German winemaking as it is in Siebeldingen.
Terroir & Origin
The Ökonomierat Rebholz estate counts among the style-defining addresses of South Palatinate. The soils around Siebeldingen, characterised by colourful sandstone, chalk and shell limestone, lend the wines a characteristic freshness and tension. The mild, continental climate of the Palatinate favours slow, even ripening – ideal for an aromatically expressive variety such as Muskateller, which benefits from cool nights to preserve its floral complexity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The Muskateller is one of Europe’s oldest grape varieties and is considered one of the few where the grape itself already carries the aroma that one recognises later in the glass: rose blossom, orange zest, elderflower. In vinification, Rebholz relies on artisanal care and minimal intervention – the wine is made dry to bring the natural acidity structure and varietal aromaticity to the fore, without being overlaid by residual sweetness. The result is a wine of directness and elegance.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The lively aromaticity and dry structure make this Muskateller a versatile table companion. Recommended with asparagus with herb vinaigrette, Asian dishes with lemongrass, goat’s cheese or a simple flammkuchen with fresh herbs. As an aperitif too, it reveals its full strength – served cool, in a slender glass.
