Vernatsch

Vernatsch, also known as Schiava in Trentino and Alto Adige, is the epitome of alpine drinkability. With its pale, translucent colour and inviting aromas of fresh red cherries and wild berries, it brings an almost weightless elegance to the glass. Its fine acid structure and gentle, unobtrusive tannins make it a versatile companion to alpine cuisine, shining particularly well when lightly chilled. This traditional variety possesses a subtle depth that is masterfully carved out through artisanal precision. At Manincor, the single-varietal „Der Keil“ emerges as a clear, characterful Vernatsch full of fine tension. The grape’s sheer versatility is also demonstrated by the Pranzegg winery, which imparts a remarkable structure to it in the „Campill“ or harmoniously marries it with Lagrein in the „Rosso per tutti“. Even as a sparkling wine in the „Rosso Mosso“ by Alois Lageder, this variety showcases its vibrant side.
