Vernatsch
Also known as: Schiava (Italy), Trollinger (Germany)
Vernatsch is South Tyrol’s everyday grape variety – unassuming, yet indispensable. Light red, slender wines that taste of strawberry and dried herbs, with minimal tannin. The north drinks them young, often slightly chilled. What appears modest at first glance has its justification: Vernatsch demands nothing, but gives exactly what everyday life needs – drinkable clarity, without dramatic pretension.
At Pranzegg and Manincor, it becomes clear that Vernatsch can also be precise and focused when taken seriously.
