Touriga Franca

Touriga Franca is the reliable, structure-giving heart of the Douro Valley. With its firm, supple tannins and a fine, almost balsamic spice of dark forest berries and rockrose, it shapes the great wines of Portugal. It brings a cool minerality and enormous longevity to the glass, without ever appearing heavy. On the palate, it is multi-layered, juicy and always carried by a profound, floral freshness.

How masterfully this variety matures is demonstrated by the house of Niepoort. In the dry Bioma Tinto, it combines with Tempranillo and Tinta Amarela to create a dense, vibrant red wine. In the monumental Vintage Ports or the Porto Bioma Crusted, together with Tempranillo and Tinto Cão, it forms the foundation for a fine, concentrated fruit that gains in complexity over decades.
