Grillo

Grillo is the soul of western Sicily. Once the backbone of Marsala, this indigenous grape variety now reveals an enormous versatility. It combines the warmth of the south with an astonishing, almost salty freshness. Thanks to its thick skin, it brings a fine phenolic character to the bottle, which provides structure on the palate. Typical notes include ripe citrus fruits, yellow stone fruit and wild herbs, making it the ideal companion for seafood.

Just how multifaceted this variety can shine is demonstrated by Marco de Bartoli with the purist Vignaverde as well as an exciting cuvée of Grillo and Zibibbo.
