Colour & Appearance

Luminous ruby red with violet reflections, medium intensity and brilliant clarity – a youthful Priorat that already reveals its origins in the glass.

Nose

Expressive and multi-layered: red cherry and raspberry meet garrigue herbs, lavender and a hint of slate. Subtle notes of white pepper and rosemary underscore the Mediterranean provenance, whilst the biodynamic viticulture manifests itself in remarkable purity and precision.

Palate

At 13.5% alcohol, Planetes „Classic“ presents itself refreshingly restrained for a Priorat – elegant rather than powerful. The Grenache brings juicy fruit and fullness, whilst the Carignan provides structure and tension. Fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity and a mineral spice from the legendary Llicorella slate keep the wine in balance. Nothing is overdone, everything in its rightful place.

Finish

Medium to long, with persistent fruit and a saline, mineral aftertaste that invites the next sip. The freshness remains present right to the end.

Terroir & Origin

Finca Planetes lies in the spectacular steep slopes of Priorat, where work can only be done with mules. The characteristic Llicorella slate fundamentally shapes the structure and minerality of this wine.

Grape Variety & Vinification

A classic Priorat cuvée of Grenache and Carignan, farmed entirely biodynamically by star oenologist Ester Nin and her husband Carles Ortiz. The grapes come from old vines in extreme steep slopes.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Perfect with grilled lamb rack, ratatouille, Catalan butifarra, beef fillet with herb crust or braised rabbit with olives. Also an excellent choice with aged Manchego.
