Terroir & Origin

Priorat, nestled between steep slate hillsides north-west of Tarragona, ranks among the most spectacular wine landscapes in Europe. The characteristic Llicorella slate soils – shimmering black, threaded with quartz veins – impart the wines with a distinctive mineral signature. The extreme microclimate with hot days and cool nights, coupled with low-yielding old vines, produces wines of extraordinary concentration and depth. Familia Nin Ortiz works with minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations and restrained use of oak, to preserve the pure essence of the terroir.
