Wine information
Lo Noir is a cuvée with Garnacha as the main grape and a smaller proportion of Pinot Noir. The fact that the cool-climate grape Pinot Noir thrives at all in the Mediterranean wine-growing region of Priorat may seem surprising at first glance. This is probably due to the altitude of the wine project El Mas de l'A, founded in 2018. Its finca and vineyards are located directly at the foot of the Montsant mountains in the higher and cooler part of Priorat. The zone also has limestone soils on which the grapes for this wine grow. The winery farms the sites biodynamically, and the red wine was aged in large-format wooden barrels.
Color
Cherry Red
Nose
The bouquet is stimulating and distinctive. The wine smells of fresh red berries and has hints of an earthy minerality. Overall, the nose is precise, buoyant and seductive.
Palate
Lo Noir has silky soft tannins and a juicy, delicately spicy and elegant style. The wine has first-class balance and tension. The well-structured growth is not a lightweight, but it is lighter than many other red wines from the Priorat. Lo Noir stands for lean power, and the juicy mineral freshness in the finish demands the next sip. Drinking pleasure and finesse go hand in hand in this wine. Great, animating and unusual.
