Colour shades

The rich cherry red colouring radiates with remarkable purple undertones and contributes to the overall deep and rich colour palette of the 2011 Les Manyes.

Bouquet

The aromatic diversity of this wine is almost beguiling, with floral elements such as roses, lavender and violets standing out impressively. The nose also detects sweet fruit notes of plum, sour cherry, raspberry and rosehip, nicely accompanied by some spicy raspberry drops. There are also uplifting herbal hints of sage, mint and boxwood. Finally, ethereal components such as orange zest, incense and eucalyptus join in, melding the breathtaking bouquet of aromas into a coherent whole. A delicate hint of minerality prevents the wine's sensuality from overwhelming and offers a pretty balance.

Taste profile

On the palate, Les Manyes 2011 reveals the same sweet fruitiness as in its bouquet. It convinces with its fine structure of acidity and tannins and at the same time enchants with its herbal and mineral notes, which are reminiscent of limestone and clay soils and give the wine a fine structure. This wine is immediately appealing and entices with its seductive nature to be enjoyed immediately, but at the same time reveals an interesting evolution when observed and tasted over the years.

Dishes that combine well with it

Serrano ham-wrapped monkfish on a bed of beetroot carpaccio would be an excellent choice, as would leg of chamois with rosehip sauce and crisp rosemary potatoes. For lovers of game dishes, rabbit braised in balsamic vinegar with porcini mushrooms and truffles could also be an excellent addition. Other alternatives could be a mature cheese plate with fruit bread or a dish of tender lam with strong rosemary polenta.
