Markus Lang actually works as a successful manager of an industrial company near Munich. However, his family roots lie in the Wachau, in Stein an der Donau. Here he cultivates a few vineyards in the best parcels of the Steiner Schreck. On barren gneiss and granite terraces, 80-year-old Riesling and Veltliner vines grow under the influence of the Pannonian climate. The vineyards are cultivated organically using numerous dynamic principles. The wines ferment spontaneously with their own yeasts, remain on the lees for a long time and are only bottled by hand and partially unfiltered after one to two years of storage on the full lees. They then mature for another year in the bottle and are released onto the market after two and a half years at the earliest. This results in great and impressive wines that are among the best we know from Austria.
