Wine Description for Cuvée Fleur 2025 by M. Schädler – Steffen Mugler

Character
The Cuvée Fleur is an aromatically multi-layered white wine that combines the floral-fruity strengths of two distinctive Palatinate grape varieties. With 12.0 % vol. and a dry style, this wine presents itself as a vibrant, accessible expression of modern Palatinate winemaking – fresh, precise and with a clear commitment to aromatic depth.
Terroir & Origin
The Palatinate is one of Germany’s sunniest wine regions. Protected by the Pfälzerwald to the west, the vines enjoy a mild, continental climate with long, warm growing seasons – ideal conditions for fully ripe, aromatically complex white wines. The terroir combines sandy soils with limestone and loess content, which bring both freshness and substance to the wine. Winemaker Steffen Mugler has the skill to translate this potential into the bottle with meticulous craftsmanship.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The cuvée unites Cabernet Blanc and Scheurebe – an unusual yet appealing combination. The Cabernet Blanc, a fungus-resistant new crossing, brings structure-giving freshness, fine herbal spice and a pleasant texture. The Scheurebe, one of Germany’s most characterful and distinctive grape varieties, complements with its characteristic intensity: blackcurrant, grapefruit, wild herbs. The interplay of both varieties creates a cuvée with aromatic tension and elegant, dry finish – no accident, but the expression of a clear winemaking concept.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The aromatic liveliness and dry freshness make this wine a versatile table companion. Recommended with asparagus with herb vinaigrette, grilled goat’s cheese, Asian noodle dishes with coriander and lime or a summery Vitello Tonnato. The Cuvée Fleur also makes an excellent aperitif companion to Flammkuchen or light vegetable quiches.
