Wine Description for Riesling 2025 from Haardt Hills

Character
A fascinating, almost entirely dealcoholised Riesling that impressively demonstrates that true wine character is not bound to alcohol content. In the glass, it presents itself as clear, precise and uncompromisingly dry. It retains the vital, lively energy and the fine, invigorating acidity structure one expects from a demanding Palatinate wine, entirely without the often intrusive sweetness of simple alcohol-free alternatives. A wine for conscious moments of enjoyment, which convinces with depth and a mineral character.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes for this Riesling ripen in the sheltered vineyard sites of the Mittelhaardt, around the picturesque Gimmeldingen. Here, on the foothills of the Pfälzerwald, the vines benefit from a mild climate with over 1,800 hours of sunshine and the protective flank of the Haardt Mountains. The defining force of this wine lies in the soil: the red Buntsandstein imparts its characteristic, fine minerality to the Riesling and a taut, almost saline texture that perfectly compensates for the absence of alcohol on the palate.
Grape Variety & Vinification
This varietal Riesling stems from close collaboration between founder Gregory Emmel and traditional, sustainably-operated partner estates in the region. To preserve the essence of the grape variety, the alcohol is removed from the finished wine with utmost care. Through the combination of membrane technology and vacuum distillation at extremely low temperatures, the volatile, delicate aromas and the essential acidity structure of the Riesling remain completely intact.
Food Pairing Recommendations
With its razor-sharp precision and bracing freshness, this Riesling is an excellent food companion. It harmonises beautifully with fine sashimi, grilled char with fresh herbs or a classic Wiener Schnitzel. It is also an excellent choice alongside lightly spiced Asian dishes such as a Thai glass noodle salad or simply on its own as a sophisticated aperitif.
