red Traminer

Roter Traminer is one of the most fascinating members of an ancient grape family. Its reddish berry skins bestow it with a natural tannin structure and an ethereal spice that goes far beyond the classic scent of roses. In the glass, it reveals itself as profound, characterised by notes of dried apricots, ginger and black tea. Its thick skins make it ideal for skin contact, which lends a bitter, structuring counterpoint to the opulent aromatics and makes it the perfect companion for spicy cuisine.

Just how vibrantly this variety can be interpreted is demonstrated by visionary estates. The Heinrich winery bottles pure phenolics with a single-varietal interpretation. In the Wagram region, Fritsch blends Roter Traminer with Grüner Veltliner to create a juicy orange wine, while Hajszan Neumann in Vienna creates a vibrant, floral masterpiece by combining it with Gelber Traminer.
