Wine Description for Red Traminer Freyheit 2022 by Heinrich

Colour & Appearance
Intense, cloudy orange – an unfiltered, natural wine that reveals its origins and winemaking approach right in the glass. The cloudiness bears witness to authenticity and artisanal integrity.
Nose
An aromatic fireworks display that brilliantly showcases the varietal expressiveness of Red Traminer: apricot and apricot skin dominate, accompanied by rose petals, exotic lychee, spicy ginger and creamy vanilla foam. This fragrance is positively hypnotic – a wine that simply won’t let you go.
Palate
On the palate, the Freyheit 2022 reveals itself as intense and exuberant, without losing its elegance. The delicate ginger spice lends the wine tension and structure, whilst the charming fruit and magnificent freshness provide balance. At 12% alcohol, it remains light-footed, yet possesses impressive substance – a wine with bite, as they say.
Finish
Persistent and lively, with a fine spicy note and lingering freshness that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the south-east facing vineyard sites Spiegel in Breitenbrunn and Hochfeld in Winden am Neusiedlersee. The soil, composed of fossil-rich calcareous sandstone and eroded mica schist, shapes the mineral structure and aromatic complexity of this extraordinary wine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Biodynamically farmed and vinified with considerable handwork. The characteristic clay bottle underscores the Heinrich family’s natural wine philosophy – authentic, unadorned, alive.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A wine for creative cuisine: Asian fusion dishes, sushi and sashimi, Thai curry with coconut milk, pan-fried scallops with ginger, duck breast with apricot chutney or spicy Indian dishes. Also a thrilling match with aged alpine cheese.
Special Characteristics
A monumental Red Traminer that pushes the boundaries of the variety – expressive, yet never overdone. A wine that challenges chefs and delights wine lovers.
