  • The naked white 2024 from Weingut Heinrich is a fascinating natural wine from Burgenland that unfolds a distinctive, living character with its complex blend of Burgundy varieties and biodynamic viticulture.
  • 🎨 Colour: Intense, slightly hazy golden yellow with delicate rosé-tinted reflections – typical of an unfiltered, naturally bottled wine.
  • 👃 Aroma: Juicy mirabelle plum, ripe pear, apple compote and orange, complemented by hay, anise, white pepper, meadow flowers, rose petals, honey as well as smoky notes and stony minerality.
  • 👅 Palate: Juicy and multi-layered with saline notes, invigorating acidity, delicate fruit sweetness and an unusually stimulating, fine tannin – light-footed and with excellent drinkability.
  • 🎭 Character: Cool, structured and lively – an idiosyncratic, natural white wine with depth that rewards the explorer’s spirit and balances between classical white wine and orange wine.

Wine description for naked white 2024 by Heinrich

Colour & Appearance
Intense, slightly hazy golden yellow with delicate rosé-coloured reflections – an unfiltered glimpse into the soul of a natural wine.
Nose
The nose is dense and inviting: juicy mirabelle plum, ripe pear and apple compote meet a lively interplay of anise, freshly ground white pepper and hay. Beneath shimmer meadow flowers, rose petals, a hint of honey and a subtle smoky depth. The oak integration fits in skilfully without dominating.
Palate
On the palate, a remarkable tension unfolds: juicy fruit meets invigorating salinity and a fresh, animating acidity. The delicate tannin – a telltale sign of skin contact – lends the wine texture and bite without compromising its light-footedness. Cool, vibrant, remarkably quaffable.
Finish
Long and mineral-driven, with a lingering echo of stone fruit and savoury spice. A wine that tempts you to take the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from both sides of Lake Neusiedl: from the hillside vineyards of the Leitha Mountains on chalk and slate, as well as from the gravelly Parndorf Plain and humus-rich heathland. These contrasts give the wine its distinctive complexity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris (plus other varieties such as Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Roter Traminer and Muscat Ottonel). Biodynamically farmed, hand-harvested, left overnight with the stems on the skins. Spontaneous fermentation, malolactic fermentation, more than a year of maturation on natural yeast in large wooden casks – unfiltered, minimal sulphur. Craftsmanship in its purest form.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Wonderful with aubergine curry with peanut sauce and basmati rice – the wine’s savoury spice and vibrant acidity harmonise beautifully with aromatic, intense cuisine. Equally enjoyable on its own, without any distraction.
Special Features
The naked white is a statement: no make-up, no corset – a wine with honest character and the signature of a winemaker who forgoes control to gain authenticity. For discoverers who understand wine as a living product.
