Wine Description for Riesling Schäwer GG 2024 by Ökonomierat Rebholz

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow with brilliant clarity – a wine that promises freshness and precision at first glance.
Nose
More accessible and open than the other 2024 GGs from Rebholz. Fine jasmine blossoms meet fresh grapes and a distinctive slate spice. Complemented by herbal notes and subtle citrus hints – an aromatic interplay between elegance and minerality.
Palate
Here the Schäwer reveals its true greatness: a light smoothness meets bitter notes and an impressive grip. The energy of this wine is electrifying – a tonic blend of vibrant acidity, slate minerality and citrus-zesty nuances. Fully fermented, pure and tense – 12 volts of pure Palatinate Riesling power.
Finish
Long, mineral and with a delightfully bitter freshness that refreshes the palate and calls for the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The Burrweiler Schäwer is a slate vineyard site – a rarity in the Palatinate. The vineyard extends up to 300 metres in elevation, directly below the forest edge. This exposed location gives the wine its characteristic minerality and freshness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Riesling, left on the skins for 24 hours after destemming. Following pre-clarification and natural sedimentation, fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, followed by six months of ageing on fine lees – classical, purist vinification that gives terroir pride of place.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile companion: perfect with scallops, monkfish or pan-fried char. It also makes an excellent match with goat’s cheese, asparagus dishes or a classic trout meunière. The minerality also harmonises beautifully with Asian cuisine – such as sushi or steamed fish with ginger.
Special Features
The fourth Grosses Gewächs from the Rebholz brothers from the 2024 vintage – a wine that does not confuse purity with puritanism. Moderate 12% alcohol with a dry style make it the ideal companion throughout a long evening.
