Tasting note
Colour & Appearance
Shows a pale straw yellow in the core, laced with delicate green highlights.
Nose
A puristic, delightfully distinctive picture: nuances of freshly chopped almond and subtle marzipan meet baked apple alongside caramelised pear. A pronounced herbal note of savory, marjoram, sage and thyme is supported by beeswax, fennel pollen and chalky minerality.
Palate
On the palate, this Furmint reveals itself to be lively yet serene. Despite aromatic reminiscences of acacia honey, it remains entirely dry, austere and chalky by nature. Offering medium drive, a delicate texture and a nutty profile, it focuses squarely on its cool terroir structure.
Terroir & Origin
With the cross-border project “Hidden Treasures”, Roland Velich – champion of Burgundian elegance in Burgenland – sets his sights on Hungary. In collaboration with local winegrower Gergö Filep, an extraordinarily cool, stone-driven white wine is crafted in the historic Tokaj region.
Grape Variety & Vinification
This wine was vinified dry from the traditional grape variety Furmint and carries a moderate alcohol content of 12.5% ABV.
An uncompromising, almost monastic austerity of style: Roland Velich’s collaborative project draws attention to the forgotten treasures of Pannonia, bestowing the Furmint grape variety with an ultra-modern, finely woven expression.
