Wine Description for Les 2 Terroirs Rosé Verzy Grand Cru Extra Brut 2023 by Adrien Renoir
- Character
- A dry, serious Rosé Champagne that takes its name literally: Les 2 Terroirs unites two neighbouring Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims. Pure Pinot Noir, made as a Rosé d’assemblage and aged as Extra Brut – more structure than charm.
- Terroir & Origin
- The „two terroirs“ are Verzy and the adjacent Verzenay – both on the northern edge of the Montagne de Reims, both 100 % Grand Cru, both on belemnite-rich chalk. From old Pinot Noir vines of these two vineyard sites emerges a rosé that combines fruit and mineral coolness.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- 100 % Pinot Noir. The base is pressed as white wine; the colour comes from a small proportion of still red wine (approximately 5 %) from the same Grand Cru sites – a classic Rosé d’assemblage, no maceration. Aged in wooden barrels, low dosage as Extra Brut. Adrien Renoir works organically (certified 2020), ferments spontaneously and disgorges without added sulphites.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- A rosé for the table: grilled salmon, tuna tartare, roasted duck breast or lamb rack. A mature Comté or a creamy Époisses also enter into an intriguing dialogue with the Pinot structure.
