Wine Description for Zero Rosé Brut Nature Base 2018 by Tarlant

Colour & Appearance
Luminous pink grapefruit tones in the glass, threaded through with an exceptionally vibrant, fine-beaded mousse that possesses remarkable persistence.
Nose
Precise and extraordinarily complex: wild raspberry and wild strawberry meet spicy notes of undergrowth, soy sauce and porcini mushrooms. This focused rosé Champagne already develops in the bouquet that rare umami sensation that sets it far apart from conventional rosé style.
Palate
Radically dry and uncompromising. The spice of the nose continues, carried by fine red fruit, pronounced salinity and a positively electrifying minerality. The carbonation is perfectly integrated, demanding without being intrusive – a Champagne that commands attention and rewards it.
Finish
Long, spicy and of impressive clarity. The saline minerality lingers, accompanied by fine mushroom notes and a refreshing herbal spice.
Terroir & Origin
From the Coteaux de Rivières in the Vallée de la Marne, from four villages: Œuilly, Boursault, Celles-lès-Condé and Saint-Agnan. The vineyards with vines averaging 40 years old are rooted in a diverse subsoil of Campanian chalk, flint pebbles, silica-rich sands and limestone from various epochs – a geological complexity that is reflected in the glass.
Grape Variety & Vinification
42% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay, 21% Meunier. Base 2018 with 25% reserve wines. Parcel-by-parcel vinification with spontaneous fermentation, six months ageing in used oak barrels, no filtration. Following bottling in April 2019, the Champagne spent nearly five years on the lees, disgorged in February 2024. Brut Nature – zero grams of dosage, nothing but pure expression.
Food Pairing Recommendations
An ideal food companion: tuna tataki, scallop carpaccio, truffle risotto, porcini pasta, pan-fried salmon with soy reduction or Parmigiano Reggiano. The umami quality makes it the perfect partner for Asian cuisine.
Special Features
Tarlant practises minimally invasive viticulture with natural ground cover, gentle Poussard pruning method and herbal therapy. An uncompromising, intellectual Champagne far removed from any mainstream – nothing for lovers of sweet rosés, everything for purists.
