Colour & Appearance

Deep, saturated purple with violet rim and opaque centre – a wine that announces its concentration visually from the outset. Lustrous and clear in the glass.

Nose

Profound and remarkably accessible for its youth. Lingonberries and cranberries meet dried black cherries, underpinned by the spice of black tea and delicately smoked duck breast. Cocoa beans and a whisper of amaretto lend the bouquet a seductive sweetness suggestion. Multi-layered, evolving, inviting.

Palate

Rich and resolute in its dark berry fruit, whilst consistently dry. The invigorating acidity lends the tannic-driven body mobility and balance – a proud Catalan with untamed power that demands time and air. Decant well in advance! With oxygen, the wine finds balanced composure.

Terroir & Origin

From Gratallops in Priorat, one of Spain’s most legendary wine regions. Daphne Glorian belongs to the triumvirate of pioneers who led Priorat to world renown in the late 1980s – alongside René Barbier and Alvaro Palacios.

Grape Variety & Vinification

A blend predominantly of Grenache Noir with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Managed biodynamically from the outset. Maturation takes place in used wood and amphorae – an approach that respects the fruit and gives terroir pride of place.

Food Pairing Suggestions

With braised veal shoulder with Brussels sprouts and potato gratin, grilled lamb merguez with mojo rosso or surprisingly also with chestnut spätzle with roasted pumpkin and crispy onion melt – the wine proves versatile alongside hearty, spiced dishes.
