Wine Description for „I Tre Borri“ IGT 2021 from Corzano e Paterno

Colour & Appearance
Luminous ruby red with garnet reflections, medium intensity. In the glass, the wine appears brilliant and clear – a classic Sangiovese profile with youthful freshness.
Nose
Seductively elegant with red cherries, sour cherries and wild strawberries at the forefront. Behind this unfold delicate notes of dried herbs, violets and a hint of tobacco. The Tuscan terracotta minerality is subtly present, complemented by discreet spice notes and a touch of leather.
Palate
Medium-bodied and wonderfully balanced – precisely what one expects from a good Chianti Riserva. The Sangiovese acidity is lively and carries the wine effortlessly, without being intrusive. Red fruits dominate, accompanied by sun-dried tomatoes, orange zest and an earthy undertone. The tannins are fine-grained and perfectly integrated, the 14.5% alcohol barely perceptible. A silky texture with that characteristic Tuscan elegance which Aljoscha Goldschmidt crafts so masterfully.
Finish
Medium to long, with lingering cherry notes and a refreshing herbal spice. The acidity provides a clean, appetite-whetting conclusion.
Terroir & Origin
From the 18 hectares of vineyards at the historic Fattoria Corzano in northern Tuscany, which has been carefully restored since the 1960s. The 140-hectare estate combines the two ancient properties of Corzano and Paterno.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Sangiovese, matured in Riserva style with extended ageing. The vinification follows traditional Tuscan methods, combined with modern finesse – characteristic of the estate’s signature style.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Classic with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, Pappardelle al Cinghiale, Pecorino stagionato or Saltimbocca alla Romana. Also excellent with mushroom risotto or grilled vegetables with balsamic.
Special Features
The „Tre Borri“ represents the estate’s mid-tier quality level – between the accessible Chianti and the age-worthy top wine „Il Corzano“. A wine that reflects the quiet elegance with which the Goldschmidt family runs this historic estate.
