Wine description for Il Corzanello Rosso IGT 2025 by Corzano e Paterno

Colour & appearance
Intense ruby red with violet reflections – young, lively, inviting.
Nose
It runs through the full spectrum of cherry: bright and tart, dark and fully ripe. Alongside come bay leaf, macchia and a hint of dark chocolate – an invigorating, typically Tuscan spiciness.
Palate
Super-fresh on the attack, with rich, juicy fruit and vibrant acidity that stretches right across the palate. A strikingly dark aromatic profile follows: dark chocolate, a touch of espresso crema, and gently bitter tannins acting as fine guardrails. Juicy and grippy, racy, bracingly fresh.
Finish
Dark in character, with distinctive cherry fruit and a savoury, slightly bitter spiciness – clean, and long enough to linger.
Terroir & origin
The vines grow at around 300 metres above sea level on calcareous, clay-rich soils with pebbles – remnants of a former seabed. The Gelpke-Goldschmidt family farms the estate organically; of its 140 hectares, only 17 are planted with vines, while the rest is given over to olive groves and 600 sheep that act as natural landscape keepers.
Grape variety & vinification
A cuvée of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and, depending on the year, a dash of Merlot. The grapes from the coolest plots are hand-harvested, delivered chilled, fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and macerated for only about five days – deliberately brief, to keep the tannins fine. Five months of ageing in stainless steel tanks.
Food recommendations
An ultra-gastronomic everyday Tuscan: with pasta with game ragù, grilled bistecca, salami pizza or medium-aged Pecorino – and delicious served slightly chilled alongside grilled vegetables and antipasti.
Special features
At this estate, the Corzanello line stands for carefree drinking pleasure with Mediterranean charm – and this Rosso delivers exactly that: fresh, juicy Tuscany in the glass. Thanks to cool plots, short maceration and pure stainless-steel ageing, it is a wine of remarkable drinkability for any occasion.
