Wine Description for Corton Grand Cru „Le Rognet-et-Corton“ AOC 2021 by Henri & Gilles Buisson

Colour & Appearance
Luminous ruby red with pomegranate reflections, medium intensity – typical of a Grand Cru from the 2021 vintage that prioritises elegance over opulence. Crystal-clear brilliance in the glass.
Nose
Precise and multi-layered: cherry and wild strawberry to the fore, underpinned by violet and a hint of forest floor. With air contact, notes of clove, black tea and fine minerality develop – the chalky subsoil of Le Rognet-et-Corton makes itself distinctly felt. Not a trace of over-extraction, but pure Burgundian finesse.
Palate
Taut and concentrated, without feeling heavy. The tannins are fine-grained and perfectly integrated, carried by a vibrant acidity structure that gives the wine tension and length. Red fruits dominate, accompanied by porcini, undergrowth and a saline minerality. The moderate alcohol content of 13% underscores the elegance – here the terroir speaks, not the extract.
Finish
Long and cool with persistent fruit and mineral echo. The acidity carries the aromas far, a hint of graphite and vervain lingers. A wine that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
Le Rognet-et-Corton lies on the eastern slope of the Corton hill on chalky marl soil. This Grand Cru vineyard site produces wines of great precision and minerality – less powerful than other Corton sites, but all the more refined.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Noir from old vines, farmed biodynamically according to Biodyvin standards. The Buisson family has practised organic viticulture since the 1960s – long before it became fashionable. Traditional vinification with respect for the terroir and the vintage.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Roasted pigeon, Coq au Vin, venison loin with lingonberries, Bresse chicken or aged Comté. The wine also pairs well with porcini risotto or truffle dishes.
Special Features
A Grand Cru from family tradition dating back to the 18th century, vinified with the transparency and precision that characterise Saint-Romain winemakers. This Corton demonstrates that greatness can also speak quietly.
