Terroir & Origin

The vineyard site Le Rognet-et-Corton is located on the mid-slope of the Corton hill between Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny. The name „Rognet“ refers to the stony, rocky soils – a characteristic feature of this parcel. The calcareous marl soils with a high limestone content give the wine its distinctive minerality and tension. The gentle south-easterly aspect ensures optimal ripening conditions, whilst the elevation provides freshness and finesse. Corton is the only Grand Cru of the Côte de Beaune for red wine and has enjoyed the highest esteem for centuries.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Pinot Noir finds ideal conditions on the stony soils of Le Rognet to express its full complexity. The Buissons work according to traditional Burgundian methods with minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. The moderate alcohol content of 13.5% vol. testifies to controlled ripeness and classical style. Ageing typically takes place in French oak barrels, with the wood supporting the terroir character without dominating it. These wines require time to reveal their complexity and depth.

Food Pairing Recommendations

A Grand Cru of this structure demands equally robust dishes: venison loin with lingonberries, braised beef cheeks, Coq au Vin or Bresse pigeon. It also shows its full class with aged hard cheeses such as Comté or with truffle dishes. The mineral structure harmonises beautifully with mushroom dishes and game in dark sauces.
