Wine Description for Eichberg Muskateller DAC 2024 from Sattlerhof

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow with brilliant clarity – a wine that already displays its crystalline purity in the glass.
Nose
Invitingly expressive and textbook varietal typical: muscat and rose dominate, accompanied by aroma hops, grapefruit and subtle exotic notes. Beneath lie fresh grapes, herbs and a fine trace of white pepper – an aromatic spectrum that unites concentration and elegance.
Palate
Here the true class of this Muskateller reveals itself: crystalline, vibrant and of impressive precision. The bright, aromatic muscat spice continues on the palate, whilst the bone-dry style (1.1 g/l residual sugar) lends the wine tension and versatility. The texture surprises with pleasant substance, the balance between cool juiciness and crispness is perfectly calibrated. Fine spice notes of white pepper, coriander seed and hops impart additional complexity.
Finish
Long-lasting and aromatic, with lingering muscat spice and refreshing minerality.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from own vineyards in Eichberg, where 15 to 30-year-old vines in steep sites between 450 and 550 metres altitude root in sparse pebble and sandy soils. The cool microclimate of South Styria decisively shapes the precise, mineral character of this wine.
Variety & Vinification
Muskateller, harvested at full ripeness and fermented and aged in stainless steel. The three-year maturation has lent the wine additional depth and integration without compromising its youthful freshness.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The dry style makes this Muskateller a versatile food companion: excellent with Asian cuisine, Thai curries, sushi, pan-fried fish, scallops, asparagus dishes or goat’s cheese. Also an excellent choice with herb-rich salads and vegetable dishes with coriander.
Special Characteristics
A Muskateller that proves this variety can do far more than offer aromatic appeal – here varietal typicity, terroir expression and gastronomic versatility combine in an impressive manner.
