Wine Description for Bourgogne Côte d’Or Vieilles Vignes AOC 2024 by Rémi Jobard
- Character
- A touch of Meursault in the guise of a regional appellation wine: this Chardonnay reveals a crystal-clear, cool profile with puristic minerality and fine richness. Characteristically for Rémi Jobard, the wine eschews prominent oak spice and instead shines with a transparent, focused structure, dense texture, and quiet depth.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes hail from old vines in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Jobard takes advantage of outstanding vineyard sites in and around Meursault to reflect the specific terroir authentically. The region’s soils are mirrored in a crystalline freshness, drawn out through uncompromising manual vineyard work—without synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, or herbicides on the Ecocert-certified domaine.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- Single-varietal Chardonnay from old vine stocks, crafted according to a philosophy of unhurried cellar work: the grapes are pressed extremely gently over six to twelve hours to extract only the purest must free from harsh phenols. Ageing takes place for around 15 months in large 600-litre Stockinger oak casks, bestowing a velvety tannin structure upon the wine without overpowering the fruit. Unfiltered, the wine preserves its natural stability and authentic sense of place.
- Food Pairings
- Thanks to its fine texture and cool freshness, it is an outstanding companion to pan-fried pike-perch on lentils, scallops with a lemon-butter sauce, classic Poulet de Bresse in cream sauce, or refined cheeses such as aged Comté.
