70 % Sciaccarellu and 30 % Niellucciu from different parcels from an area of about 18 hectares. The vineyard is characterised by granite and lies at an altitude of around 100 metres. The grapes are harvested with a yield of around 25 hl/ha. It is harvested by hand in the early morning, destemmed and spontaneously fermented slowly over 40 days. This is followed by ageing in stainless steel and concrete for 5 months. No fining, light filtration.

Color

Bright, transparent cherry red with light and delicate violet reflections with a light rim.

Nose

2020 Faustine Rouge combines a rather unusual fruit composition. Totally exciting, but almost exemplary for its Corsican origin. Strawberry and sweet cherry appear on the nose alongside barberry and dried cranberry. The most dominant notes are elderberry and rosehip. The fruit seems very delicately coated in yoghurt. A hint of red pepper and some juniper provide spice and ethereal notes at the same time. In the background, a little liquorice and Mediterranean tones buzz around. Pine woods as well as rosemary and thyme complete it.

Palate

On the palate, it seamlessly follows on from the impressions gained on the nose. The fruit seems silky and cool. It has bite and benefits enormously from this stony, cool minerality that distinguishes it. The acidity has little to counter this. The lactic traits are almost completely lost on the palate. Faustine Rouge is animating and wonderfully unagitated. White pepper leaves a clear mark on the palate. The Mediterranean spiciness is very supportive.
