Wine description for Vindabeive rosso 2024 by Valfaccenda

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, pale ruby red of almost transparent clarity – a wine that announces its lightness of foot right there in the glass.
Nose
Youthful, fresh and carefree: sour cherry and lingonberry meet delicate violets and a whisper of bay leaf. The fruit comes across as filigree and transparent – not a gram of excess, just pure Roero essence.
Palate
A wine that drinks as though it were born to do so. Fine fermentation carbonation makes it positively sparkle and shimmer on the palate. The minimal extraction yields gossamer-thin phenolics that hold the juicy, red-berry fruit in precise and lively form. Served lightly chilled, it unfolds its full charm – a genuine glou-glou at the highest level.
Finish
Short, crisp, invigorating. The finish ends as fresh as it begins – and immediately makes you want another glass.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the sandy hills of Roero, that former seabed of the Gulf of Padania, which gives Nebbiolo a quite different, lighter expression than the opposite Langhe. The loose sandy soils bestow the wine its transparency and texture.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Nebbiolo from younger vines. Just five days of skin contact, roughly half of that as whole bunches – a deliberately brief maceration that deploys colour and structure in measured doses without sacrificing lightness. The wine was then bottled quickly to preserve its freshness. The winery Valfaccenda, organically certified since 2014, works exclusively with indigenous varieties.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with charcuterie and salumi piemontesi, with pizza, pasta al pomodoro or simply on its own as an aperitivo with good friends. Serve lightly chilled at around 14–16 °C.
Special Features
The Vindabeive – Piedmontese for „wine to drink“ – is the programme: not a wine for pondering, but for enjoying. A Nebbiolo that leaves all heaviness behind and proves that elegance and drinking pleasure are no contradiction.
