Colour & Appearance

Deep, luminous cherry red with even colouration and characteristically lighter rim – a classic hallmark of maturing Nebbiolo elegance.

Nose

An aromatic kaleidoscope between two worlds: sour cherry dominates, flanked by redcurrants and raspberries on one side, plums and blackberries on the other. These are joined by rosehip and barberry. The earthy component of beetroot lends depth, whilst juniper, black pepper, cinnamon and clove provide intense spice. A fascinating forest walk reveals itself with pine cones, tree bark, fir needles and undergrowth. Subtle notes of freshly ground coffee, cigar box and light tobacco leaves round off this complex aromatic profile.

Palate

Here the true greatness of this Barbaresco reveals itself: the opening is gentle and flowing, the fruit shines through subtly, yet the real strength lies in the mineral precision, the silky tannins and the perfectly integrated acidity. Never loud, never obtrusive – instead a lesson in restrained elegance. The balance is flawless, each element in harmonious relationship with the others. Substance and length impress lastingly.

Terroir & Origin

The single vineyard site Roncaglie lies in the municipality of Barbaresco at 280 metres elevation with south-westerly exposure. The 35-year-old vines are rooted in limestone and clay – that mineral character which is so distinctly reflected in the wine.

Grape Variety & Vinification

100% Nebbiolo, harvested in late September and gently pressed. Fermentation in steel tank with cold maceration over approximately one month. Malolactic fermentation takes place already in oak barrels. Ageing lasts nearly 30 months, predominantly in large barrels, complemented by small barriques. Bottling takes place without filtration.
