Colour & Appearance

Luminous cherry red with the medium transparency typical of Nebbiolo, which already hints at elegance and finesse.

Nose

A delicate, fragrance-driven Barbaresco that immediately impresses with classic Nebbiolo aromas: rose petals and mint dominate, underpinned by undergrowth, damp earth and a hint of cola. These are complemented by notes of red fruit and a subtle oak note that is perfectly integrated.

Palate

On the palate, the true class of this wine reveals itself: finely chiselled and precise, with a clear, vibrant acidity that carries the wine. The tannin is still firm, but of medium grain and promises good ageing potential. A pulsing minerality runs through the wine, paired with warm fruit, floral notes and a hint of blanched almonds. The texture is transparent and elegant – a textbook Barbaresco.

Finish

Long and persistent, with returning notes of almonds and flowers that interweave with mineral accents.

Terroir & Origin

The grapes come from the single vineyard site Roncaglie in the municipality of Barbaresco. The vineyards lie at around 280 metres above sea level with a south to south-westerly aspect. The soils are a complex blend of limestone, clay and sand – a combination that gives this wine its characteristic elegance and minerality. The vines, averaging 34 years old, are cultivated using the Guyot method.

Grape Variety & Vinification

100% Nebbiolo. The 2021 underwent a three to four-day cold maceration with 20-25% whole berries, followed by 25 days of maceration in stainless steel with exclusive submerged cap management. Malolactic fermentation took place in used barriques, with ageing then for 24 months in large wooden casks – a classical approach that preserves the fruit and elegance.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Perfect with truffle risotto, braised veal, Brasato al Barolo, aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or mushroom dishes. Also an excellent choice with duck breast or game.

Special Features

A classic, terroir-driven Barbaresco from one of Piedmont’s most renowned estates. The 2021 vintage shows itself to be approachable, yet retains the structure for a further 10-15 years of ageing potential.
