The Txabola is a pure Graciano. The fruit comes from Elvillar in the Rioja Alavesa. The Los Lanos vineyard is located at 525 metres. It is a hillside site with clay soils that contain coral limestone and have a low water retention capacity. The 15-year-old vines are trellised. After hand harvesting and sorting, the grapes were destemmed and fermented spontaneously at a maximum of 25 °C for 18 days. The wine was then matured for 16 months in second-age French barriques.

Nose
The obligatory dark fruits experience purely spicy competition in this single-varietal Mazuelo. Accordingly, it reveals roasted coffee and cocoa beans, dark dark chocolate and a hint of freshly grated coconut. Juniper, rosemary and sage lend Mediterranean and ethereal spiciness. Black and green pepper provide spicy accents. Cassis, elderberries, blackberries and mulberries are abundant. Marjoram and lovage round off the flavour.
Palate
On the palate, it initially appears juicy and coolly lean. A gentle tannin lays over the palate. Its racy acidity, however, enlivens it throughout without letting up. The positive active bitter substances underpin the fruit in a pleasantly rustic way. Elderberries and blackberries in particular fight their way to the surface. Its spicy and again, rustic appearance pleases very well in total.
