Tasting note
- Colour & Appearance
- Rich purple-red in the glass.
- Nose
- Presents itself pure and radiant with notes of fresh red and dark berries. These are joined by delicate nuances of violets, a fine spice and subtle earthy-mineral tones.
- Palate
- A textbook example of Crianza full of drinking pleasure: silky, soft tannins meet a wonderful balance between juicy fruit and subtle oak. Fresh, vibrant and without heavy extraction, focused on immediate enjoyment and high drinkability.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes originate from the wind-swept highlands of Rioja Alavesa (Elvillar, Viñaspre and Moreda). At altitudes of 470 to 580 metres, the vines grow on clay-silt loam soils at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- A classic blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano from bush vines roughly 50 years old. Grown using certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, this wine is aged for 12 months in barriques, with the influence of oak deliberately kept subtle.
- Food Pairings
- A masterful partner for a classic tapas selection, tender lamb chops, roasted pork fillet or delicately spiced casseroles.
- Particularities
- Inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka’s philosophy of minimal intervention, Eva Fernández and Luis Ruiz de Viñaspre let nature take the lead – Tim Atkin considers the estate one of the most exciting producers in the region for good reason.
