Wine Description for Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC 2024 by Cirelli

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow with silvery rim – a classic appearance for Trebbiano from the Abruzzo region.
Nose
This Trebbiano presents itself textbook-perfect with a fascinating interplay between ripe fruit and Mediterranean herbal spice. Melon, nectarine and soft yellow apples meet chamomile, dried sage and bay leaf. A wreath of dried summer flowers rounds off the aromatic bouquet – complex yet clearly defined.
Palate
Stimulatingly herbaceous on the attack, this is where the true strength of this wine reveals itself: the juicy fruit is elegantly framed by a herbal spice that dominates the palate. Chamomile tea, herbal tincture and citrus zest provide the herbaceous framing, whilst delicate phenolics at the tongue’s edge offer structure and grip. The mild acidity makes the wine accessible and versatile.
Finish
Medium length with lingering herbal echo and a refreshing citrus note that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from contract cultivation in the Abruzzo region, where the vines are rooted in lean clay-limestone soils – ideal conditions for Trebbiano with character and minerality.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Hand-harvested Trebbiano grapes are destemmed and macerate for 24 hours on the skins before spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts takes place in stainless steel tanks. This minimal intervention underscores Cirelli’s philosophy of an authentic, terroir-driven wine.
Food Pairing Recommendations
An ideal companion to grilled fish, seafood, herb-laden antipasti, goat’s cheese or pasta with lemon and herbs. The herbaceous spice harmonises beautifully with Mediterranean vegetable dishes and summer rolls.
Special Features
With this 2024 vintage, Francesco Cirelli proves that Trebbiano d’Abruzzo can be far more than a simple everyday wine. Expressive, characterful and with a fascinating balance between fruit and herbal spice – an uncomplicated yet far from inconsequential drinking pleasure at a fair price.
