Wine Description for Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 1500ml Magnum by Trapet Père & Fils

Character
The Chambertin from Trapet Père & Fils embodies the aristocratic essence of Burgundian Pinot Noir in its purest form. This domaine, which has worked biodynamically for generations, vinifies one of the most legendary Grand Crus of the Côte de Nuits with remarkable restraint and precision. The magnum bottle promises slower development and even greater longevity for this already extraordinarily age-worthy wine.
Terroir & Origin
Chambertin has been regarded for centuries as the king of Burgundian Grand Crus, located in Gevrey-Chambertin on the Côte de Nuits. Trapet’s parcels comprise old vines on calcareous clay soils with ideal south-easterly exposure. The terroir imparts the wine with its characteristic blend of power and finesse, of structural depth and aromatic complexity. The 2022 vintage presents itself in Burgundy as classic and well-balanced, with good freshness despite warm summer months.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Trapet Père & Fils has consistently practised biodynamic viticulture since 1996, which is reflected in the vibrancy and precision of their wines. The Pinot Noir grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. Vinification follows traditional methods with extended skin contact and moderate oak use, so as not to overshadow the terroir expression. The moderate alcohol content of 12.5% vol. underscores the house philosophy: elegance before opulence, tension before fullness, authenticity before effect.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A wine of this calibre demands refined game cuisine: venison loin with lingonberries, pheasant with truffle or pigeon breast are classic companions. It also harmonises beautifully with aged Époisses or other Burgundian cheeses. The magnum bottle is ideal for festive occasions and will develop even greater complexity over the next 15-20 years.
