Wine Description for Terroirs d’Ecueil Premier Cru Extra Brut 375ml from Lacourte-Godbillon

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow with luminous clarity. The fine, lively perlage rises elegantly in the glass – a visual promise of artisanal precision.
Nose
This Premier Cru from Ecueil impresses with immediate presence. Orange zest, red apple peel and green almonds meet classic autolytic notes of breadcrumbs, yeast and toasted hazelnuts. The nose is opulent, charming and stands immediately in the glass – powerful and focused at once.
Palate
On the palate, an elegant texture unfolds with fine mousse. The cuvée combines juicy fruit with subtle yeast notes in remarkable balance. The Pinot Noir dominance (85%) lends structure and power, whilst 15% Chardonnay provides finesse. A sweeping arc of acidity carries the wine with just five grammes of dosage – lean, precise, with maximum drinkability.
Finish
Long and marked by delicate salinity. The aftertaste remains focused and invigorating – a Champagne that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
Ecueil belongs to the Premier Cru sites of the Montagne de Reims. The terroir lends this Champagne its characteristic power and mineral depth – typical of the chalk-dominated soils of the region.
Grape Variety & Vinification
85% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay. Disgorged in December 2012 after 30 months on the lees. The Extra Brut dosage of just five grammes underscores the purist approach and allows maximum expression of the terroir.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Versatile in application: Smoked mackerel with gooseberry chutney, cucumber salad with goat’s cheese and elderflower dressing or pheasant terrine with Cumberland sauce. The salinity and structure of the Champagne harmonise beautifully with smoked fish and savoury terrines.
Special Features
A Champagne with high artisanal standards at a fair price. The 375ml bottle is ideal for spontaneous moments or as an apéritif for two – Lacourte-Godbillon demonstrates winemaking artistry without compromise.
