Information

Teroldego from the Sgarzon vineyard in Campo Rotaliano near Mezzolombardo, grown on 2.5 hectares of alluvial alluvium about one kilometre from the Morei vineyard, which is close to the Foradori winery. There is a lot of sand in the topsoil, the plot is open and barely protected from the cold winds. The grapes ripen about a week later than in Morei. The wine was aged on the skins for eight months in tinajas, Spanish 420-litre cellar amphorae. In spring 2020, the wine was drawn off into concrete tanks to harmonise over the summer.

Nose

From the pair of brothers Morei and Sgarzon is the Sgarzon always the somewhat brighter, wilder and cooler wine, which is no wonder, since it comes from a cooler site. With the 2019 vintage, the Sgarzon a wonderfully animating, elegant and engaging fragrance. Elderberries and sloes play a role here, along with sour cherries and violet blossoms, light tobacco, mint and dry undergrowth. In addition, there is a fine scent of sweet yeast.

Palate

Also on the palate you will find at first this sweet yeast of the still so young Sgarzon. A partly red, but above all dark and silky fruit is mixed in. The texture is silky, too, reminiscent of a burnt clay layer, which is so typical for the Tinaja development. Everything seems clear, pure, finesse-rich and juicy with lively acidity and downright tingling minerality. The fruit becomes darker and darker in the finish, but remains on the crisp, fresh side and is accompanied by tart tobacco, which was already present in the aroma.
