Wine Description for Barbaresco Crichët Pajé Riserva Etichetta Nera DOCG 2004 1500ml by Roagna

Character
A monument of Piedmont, embodying the pure essence of time and uncompromising craftsmanship. In the imposing magnum bottle, this rare Barbaresco from the outstanding 2004 vintage presents itself with an aristocratic structure. It captivates with an extraordinary balance of power and elegance – filigree, delicate, of deep, ethereal complexity and supported by a fine, sheer endless tannic framework, predestined for decades of ageing.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes originate from the legendary Pajé cru in Barbaresco. The Roagna family has been cultivating these historic soils for five generations with unconditional respect for nature. The vineyards are biodiverse, permanently greened and absolutely free from pesticides and herbicides. This intact ecosystem and the unique microclimate of the Langhe lend the wine its unmistakable, profound sense of place and mineral precision.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Monovarietal, crafted from the demanding Nebbiolo grape. Luca Roagna’s cellar philosophy is a homage to tradition: you will look for small barriques in vain here. Instead, the wine matures extremely slowly in large oak casks and cement tanks. This gentle approach allows the grape variety to breathe without being dominated by oak aromas, preserving the pure, unadulterated soul of the terroir.
Food Pairings
Such a meditative, standalone masterpiece demands a classic, earthy accompaniment. It harmonises masterfully with braised beef in Barolo, the finest saddle of venison or traditional tajarin with fresh white truffle. This wine also reveals its full class when paired with mature Castelmagno cheese.
