Colour & Appearance

Presents in the glass in a pale straw yellow.

Nose

A delicate, highly elegant bouquet emerges from the glass: nuances of poached yellow plums, oranges, caramelised apples and quinces meet crisp pome fruit, a touch of apple peel and cool crushed rock. Subtle hints of almond pastries and a fine creaminess round off the impression.

Palate

On the palate, it reveals a complex interplay of fresh and lightly caramelised apple, underpinned by a tactile, grippy texture. The clear, vibrant acidity gives the wine real substance, juiciness and a bright abundance of fruit. Nutty tones and a gently saline backbone lead into a precise, entirely distinct flavor profile.

Terroir & Origin

The Kapellenweingarten is the highest-altitude single vineyard (Ried) owned by the Sattler family in Gamlitz, Styria. At 600 metres elevation, approximately 35-year-old vines take root on steep slopes with gradients of up to 70 percent. The soil of calcareous quartz and gravelly pebbles alongside the airy microclimate ensure a slow, late ripening of the grapes.

Grape Variety & Vinification

This single-varietal Morillon (Chardonnay) originates from meticulous hand harvesting. Following spontaneous fermentation, the wine matured for two years on its lees in large, neutral wooden casks – true to a low-intervention philosophy that allows the fruit to take center stage.

Food Pairings

An outstanding companion to pan-fried char, veal chop with porcini mushrooms or creamy pasta with lobster tails.
