Colour & Appearance

Luminous, pale golden yellow with brilliant clarity – a wine that already promises precision and depth in the glass.

Nose

The nose is of striking elegance and cool nobility: verbena, lemon balm and sage weave through fine citrus notes of lime zest and grapefruit, complemented by the characteristic spice of ripe blackcurrant and gooseberry. A barely perceptible, elegantly fading reduction lends the bouquet additional complexity and depth – not a flaw, but personality.

Palate

On the palate, a Sauvignon Blanc of fascinating precision and refined structure unfolds. Juicy and immediately appealing, it presents green mango, green plums and white peach, accompanied by exotic star fruit and white berries. Herbal accents of lemon balm, sage and a hint of tarragon underscore the South Styrian provenance with unmistakable character.

Finish

Long, taut and remarkably invigorating: A crisp, gripping acidity draws an elegant arc through to the expansive finale, which ends with savoury notes of salt lemons – mouth-watering, lively and of impressive length.

Terroir & Origin

The Ried Alter Kranachberg is among the most significant vineyard sites of South Styria. At 450 metres elevation, with slopes of up to 80 % and ideal south-facing exposure, the vines grow on unique soil composed of alpine gravel with limestone in the subsoil and quartz sands at the surface – a terroir that inscribes minerality, tension and aromatic finesse into the wine.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Sauvignon Blanc, spontaneously fermented and aged at merely 1.1 g/l residual sugar with lively 5.6 g/l acidity. Remarkable 24 months of yeast ageing in stainless steel lend the wine texture and depth without compromising its aromatic purity. A wine that rewards patience.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Ideal with grilled turbot with herb butter, scallops on pea purée, goat cheese variations or a classic Viennese fried chicken. Also a revelation as an elegant companion to asparagus with Hollandaise sauce.
