  • The Puligny-Montrachet “Les Climats” AOC 2024 from Domaine Thomas-Collardot is a dry Chardonnay from Burgundy that, with its precise citrus fruit and fine chalky texture, reflects the understated style of this family estate in Puligny-Montrachet.
  • 🎨 Colour: Bright, clear golden yellow with greenish reflections, typical of a young Chardonnay from a cool vineyard site.
  • 👃 Aroma: Delicate citrus notes of lime and grapefruit, underpinned by white blossoms, green apple and a subtle mineral chalk note.
  • 👅 Taste: Taut and precise on the palate with vibrant acidity, saline minerality and a fine grain; the citrus fruit remains clear and focused, without opulent breadth.
  • 🎭 Character: Transparent and unassuming – a Burgundy that relies on craftsmanship rather than spectacle, impressing with its dry, saline drive and razor-sharp freshness.
  • 🍽️ Food recommendation: Ideal with grilled sea bass in lemon butter, goat’s cheese salad with fresh herbs or light poultry in a delicate cream sauce.
  • ✨ Special features: From a small family estate with just 2.5 hectares, organically certified since 2021; ageing in used pièces and the near-total avoidance of sulphur additions lend the wine exceptional clarity and authenticity.

Wine description for Puligny-Montrachet “Les Climats” AOC 2024 by Thomas-Collardot

Character
A Chardonnay without make-up — saline, taut, with precise citrus fruit and a fine chalky texture. Domaine Thomas-Collardot stands for transparency rather than opulence, for precision rather than breadth. No buttered toast, no clouds of vanilla: what Jacqueline Collardot and her son Matthieu put into the bottle is Puligny in its purest form — cool, mineral, of quiet elegance.
Terroir & Origin
The domaine lies in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, that village on the Côte de Beaune regarded worldwide as the benchmark for great white Burgundy. The family estate covers just 2.5 hectares — plots in vineyard sites such as Les Enseignères, Les Nosroyes and Hameau de Blagny. The vines go back to Jacqueline’s grandfathers; in 2010 she took the vineyards back from their tenants and has been vinifying herself since 2015. Certified organic since 2021, with an annual production of around 10,000 bottles.
Grape variety & Vinification
Chardonnay — here at 12.5% abv and vinified dry. In the cellar, a gentle hand rules: soft pressing, 24 hours’ settling, ageing in used 228-litre casks (pièces with two to four previous fillings). The village wines mature sixteen months on the fine lees, are only lightly filtered and never fined. Sulphur additions are largely dispensed with. The result: fine grain, always a dry, saline drive.
Food recommendations
The cool precision and saline minerality of this Puligny call for dishes of similar finesse: pan-fried sole with a light butter sauce, scallops on a bed of leeks, poached chicken with morels or fresh goat’s cheese from Burgundy. With a risotto with lemon and thyme, too, the wine shows its strength — it enlivens the table rather than dominating it.
