  • The Puligny-Montrachet “Les Climats” 2024 from Domaine Thomas-Collardot is a lean, precise Chardonnay from Burgundy that favours transparency and saline minerality over opulence. A wine for connoisseurs seeking the taut, chalky Puligny profile without any mask of oak.
  • 🎨 Colour: Pale, cool gold with greenish reflections and brilliant clarity.
  • 👃 Nose: Citrus zest, white blossoms and green apple, underpinned by fine chalk and wet pebbles.
  • 👅 Palate: Taut and lean on the palate, with precise acidity, saline minerality and a fine, grainy texture; the finish is dry, long and marked by a refreshing vibrancy.
  • 🎭 Character: A restrained, focused Burgundy without artifice – clear, precise and of austere elegance, transparently reflecting its origin.
  • 🍽️ Food pairing: Ideal with steamed turbot in beurre blanc, fresh oysters or a warm goat’s cheese tart.
  • ✨ Special features: Certified organic since 2021, vinified with a gentle hand in used pièces and largely without added sulphur; the magnum bottle underscores the ageing and cellaring potential of this rare Puligny-Chardonnay.

Wine description for Puligny-Montrachet “Les Climats” AOC 2024 1500ml Magnum by Thomas-Collardot

Character
A Chardonnay of almost ascetic precision: salty, taut, with precise citrus fruit and a fine chalky texture that washes over the palate like wet pebbles. Transparency reigns here, not opulence – no buttered toast, no clouds of vanilla, just cool, linear fruit and a dry, almost steely edge. The magnum bottle (1500ml) slows the wine’s evolution and preserves this fragile tension for years.
Terroir & Origin
From Puligny-Montrachet, the limestone heartland of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. The domaine cultivates just 2.5 hectares in vineyard sites such as Les Enseignères, Les Nosroyes and Hameau de Blagny – parcels renowned for their chalky minerality and taut acidity. The climate is typically Burgundian-continental, yet the soil is what truly matters: limestone and marl that lend the wine its salty precision.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay, vinified by Jacqueline Collardot and her son Matthieu with a gentle hand: soft pressing, 24 hours’ settling, and maturation in used 228-litre casks (pièces) without any new oak influence. Village wines such as this are aged 16 months on the fine lees, then only lightly filtered and unfined. Certified organic since 2021, largely without added sulphur – craftsmanship rather than spectacle.
Food Pairings
The wine’s saline structure calls for maritime precision: oysters or sole in a butter-lemon sauce, pan-fried turbot with almonds, lobster in a light bisque, or Poulet de Bresse in a morel cream sauce. It is also a revelation alongside young Comté or Chèvre. The magnum is ideal for the festive table, where the wine can breathe over several hours and unfold its full chalky depth.
